Restaurants

There are many restaurants on the island. We suggest you pick up a free copy of the St. Croix THIS WEEK magazine or talk to other guests around the pool to hear about their favorites.
Online List of places can be found here: St. Croix This Week

Island dress is casual, but bathing suits and unbuttoned shirts are only appropriate on the beach or at the pool. When in town, visitors are expected to be fully clothed. Men seldom wear ties or jackets, and women tend to wear shorts or skirts. Because of the mild climate, you will feel quite comfortable going out for dinner in shorts and a t-shirt.

Groceries

  • Food Town – walking distance (we recommend driving at night). A small local store with lots of variety.
  • Pueblo – driving distance. A regular grocery store. There are several of these on island. Cost-U-Less - driving distance. Similar to a Costco or Sams Club, but no membership required.
  • Plaza Extra - driving distance. Several on the island.

Currency & Tipping

The currency on St Croix is the US dollar. Tipping on the island is an average of 15%, or 20% for outstanding service just like in the states.  Major credit cards are accepted at most locations, except some beach areas, where there is no internet

Shopping

Most shopping is done in small shops which can be found all over the island. There are no major shopping malls or large department stores on St. Croix. There is a Kmart on the island,  at Sunny Isle Shopping Center. On Sunday, small shops in Frederiksted and Christiansted, will probably be closed.  On cruise ship days, there is usually an outdoor market set up in Frederiksted.  There is also a Home Depot on the island.
